Positive Displacement Pump

Positive Displacement Pumps (PD Pumps) are designed to create flow by trapping a fixed amount of fluid and forcing (or “displacing”) that trapped fluid into the discharge pipe. Unlike centrifugal pumps, which are “variable flow machines,” positive displacement pumps produce the same flow at a given speed (RPM) regardless of the discharge pressure.

One of the benefits of positive displacement pumps is their ability to provide constant flow, which makes them ideal for applications where precise flow control is necessary. Additionally, these pumps are capable of handling viscous liquids and fluids with high solid content, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial applications.

It’s important to note that positive displacement pumps operating against a closed discharge valve will continue to produce flow until the pressure in the discharge line increases to the point where the line bursts, the pump becomes damaged or both. That’s why it’s important to select the right PD pump for your application and to ensure that it is properly installed and maintained.

At Fluid Prowess, we offer a range of positive displacement pumps designed to meet your specific needs. Our team of experts can work with you to identify the right solution for your application and provide ongoing support to ensure that your pump delivers reliable performance for years to come.
